Matthew 5 blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness

Jesus stated that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be satisfied. What Jesus had in mind when he talked of righteousness and what we often consider righteousness are not the same.

For Jesus righteousness is the setting of things right, as in the way God intended them to be. The response to Jesus' statement that we will be blessed when we want nothing more than God to set things as they ought to be is a call to action in a world full of injustice, where things are not as they ought to be.
